Prayer Changes Everything

What is your first thought after you finish praying? Perhaps you pray and get up and act as if nothing is going to happen. One could argue that to pray without expectation of God moving and answering your prayers is purely a religious exercise. Perhaps the person feels they have accomplished something "spiritual." However, prayer is not to be considered a religous exercise. Rather, prayer is birthed out of a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I say it that way because the only way we get to God is through Jesus Christ. When we pray to God through Jesus Christ it is fair to say that we should expect something to happen. We should expect God to answer. After all, He is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present. David stated in Psalm 5:3, "In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch."

Have you ever wondered what keeps a fisherman fishing when he is not catching fish? My boys and I really enjoy fishing. I would like to say that I always catch fish when I go fishing. However, I cannot say that has always happened. I know what keeps me fishing when I am not catching fish. I am constantly waiting in expectation for the next fish to bite. I am waiting to feel the line pull tight and my rod bend under the weight of a fighting fish. This is simply exhilarating. It is this expectation that makes all the difference. I am expecting an awesome outcome. I am expecting a fish to bite. I encourage you to let your request be made known to God. But, don't stop there! Look around and wait with expectation to see what God will do in answer to your prayers. He is faithful!
